Volunteering is Rewarding
By volunteering, you are offering your skills and abilities to enhance the delivery of the City's services to the community. Volunteers are partners in building a community you can be proud of, through an experience that brings fulfillment.
Volunteer Opportunities are Varied
There are volunteer opportunities to work alongside City staff in some of the City offices; however, if you are interested in doing something that is not on our list of available opportunities, we will work with you to see if it is possible to build that opportunity within the framework of our volunteer program.
- Citizen Involvement Programs: Residents can volunteer to help guide the City of Farmington by serving on a board, commission, or committee each with specific responsibilities. Boards, commissions, and committees study information in specific areas and make recommendations to the mayor and city council on issues within that board's area of expertise. Citizens can also volunteer for special City programs including the .
- Special Events: Volunteers are utilized for special events or projects hosted by the City, sometimes for a single-day event - perhaps even for just a few hours. Groups often sign up to volunteer for this type of event. These events will be listed as they arise throughout the year.
- Short-Term Projects: A City department might request volunteers to work with a short-term project. These opportunities will be posted as they become available.
- Long-Term and Ongoing Opportunities: Various departments within the City request volunteer help for long-term projects or for ongoing assignments within the department that can be filled by an individual volunteer on a regular basis. These opportunities will be posted along with a volunteer service description of the position.
